Health and Safety
IMPORTANT VILLA INFORMATION
Inside your villa, you will find a guide with security information specific to each villa. Please take time upon arrival to learn about the security features and layout of the villa. Especially if you’re travelling with children, take the time to point out areas that need special attention, such as the pool or balcony. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter, our Villa Representative will be happy to assist you. If you have any concerns, please call him at the number found in your travel documents and villa manual.
You can call us and ask as many questions as you want. If there is something important to you, contact a member of our reservations team who will assist you with your question.
Despite our efforts and advice being given, the care and safety of members of your group are ultimately your responsibility.
Should you have an accident anywhere in or around the Villa it is a condition of your booking with us, you must report this immediately to your Villa Representative or our local resort office team so they can advise and assist you.
Most terrace walls have a height of 90 cm to 1 meter, while others may be less. There may also be roof terraces with low walls, in most cases, we make sure that they are closed or closed with a door. However, this is not always possible depending on the layout and design of the property.
If you have any concerns regarding the security of your villa, please contact your Villa Representative immediately. An issue brought to our attention will be addressed as soon as possible.
Many one-story villas have several steps inside, and the gardens may have some drops or slopes. A few villas have stairs that are steep and sometimes low.
The interior and exterior floor of the villa may be wet as it is cleaned by the maid on check-in, check-out and other days of maid service. Always be aware of the ground condition and be vigilant, taking steps to ensure your safety, especially for children and the elderly. At other times, floor areas that are exposed to the elements or exposed to water from swimming pools can be wet and care is required at all times. We take care to have all our gas-equipped villas inspected by a qualified gas safety engineer and install carbon monoxide detectors for your security.
Do not forget that the fireplaces in all our rental villas are for ornamental purposes only, in accordance with the Fire Safety regulations.
All our villas have smoke detectors. In the event of a fire, you must evacuate the villa immediately, making sure all your members are evacuated and safe. After determining the people staying in the villa and the people found, call the emergency services and your Rental Villas Fethiye Representative.
Smoking is not allowed in any of our villas or in the outer areas of the villas and we only ask you to smoke in a suitable place outside the villa surroundings.
Sometimes due to the heavy use of the pool, water in the ears can cause ear infections, especially in children. This does not necessarily mean that the pool does not have the correct level of chlorine, but it should be checked immediately. A simple precaution is to thoroughly dry your ears after getting out of the pool to make sure you’re removing any puddles that could become infected.
If you have any concerns about your pool, contact our Villa Representative immediately.
• Please comply with our no diving policy.
• Do not run by the pool, this is especially true for children with wet feet. Some areas can be slippery when wet.
• Do not swim if you cannot see the bottom of the pool. In this case, contact your representative as soon as possible. Heavy weather or thunderstorms can cause pools to become cloudy. Clouding can also be caused by excess suntan oil, especially when using non-waterproof types. Please note that using a poolside shower before swimming can help keep the pool clean. Children and fair-skinned people should wear hats and T-shirts when in the pool, as harmful ultraviolet rays penetrate water up to 1.5 m deep and are reflected from the water surface.
• Beware of slippery surfaces, drains or raised edges.
• Always supervise children and non-swimmers in and around the pool area.
• Avoid swimming, especially if you drink alcohol late at night. Do not swim within 1 hour of eating - it can be dangerous.
SWIMMING POOL ACCIDENT OR CLOSING
In case of an accident in or around the pool, you should report this to your Rental Villas Fethiye Representative, who will come to the villa immediately. Any malfunction in the pool or its equipment will be investigated and immediate action will be taken to correct the problem. If in the Villa Representative’s opinion, the pool needs to be closed for your safety until a repair is made, you will be notified in writing to stop using the pool.
SWIMMING POOL SECURITY FENCES (optional)
IMPORTANT: If you have ordered an optional pool safety fence at a villa where this property is available, we will endeavour to have it installed prior to your arrival. Sometimes local conditions may not make this possible and a pool fence can be installed after you arrive - but still within the same day. In very rare cases, it can be installed the next day. Pool fences have doors that are lockable and/or equipped with a latch or some type of closing mechanism. Doors should never be left open or should never be left open.
Where pool fencing is installed, we will always endeavour to ensure that installation is done with reasonable skill and care. This does not relieve you of your responsibility to ensure that this property is safe and available for use during your occupation of the villa. You will not be charged for accidental damage to the pool fence or gate, but it is a reservation requirement that you immediately report any damage, malfunction or concern to the local resort office. Otherwise, the damage will be examined under the title of damage in the rental conditions. If there is a problem with your villa prior to arrival, we will offer you an alternative villa. If a problem arises in your villa during your stay that will require you to move to an alternative villa, we will do our best to provide you with a gated/fenced villa with a pool or alarm, but in these extremely rare cases, this may not be possible.
Swimming pool security fences (permanent ones)
Except for permanent fixtures, details in the terms apply for optional safety fenced pools. A pool fence (permanent or optional) is no substitute for parental control and parents should supervise children around the pool at all times. It may well be possible for an unsupervised child to lift fences from ground supports, push or pull a pool fence, or separate gaps. Pool fences are designed, manufactured and installed only to prevent small children from entering an unprotected pool area. Please always make sure that the locking mechanism on the pool door is working and never open the door.
ENDLESS OR SPILL POOLS
Some of our villas have an infinity or spill pool, which means one side of the pool is an unobstructed waterfall. While swimming, the blue of the pool meets the blue of the sky or the sea, which is very aesthetically pleasing. These pools are safe but care should be taken with children. If you have any doubts about the suitability of this type of pool, please ask for the details of the villa pool you have chosen at the time of booking.
Infinity Pools - Security policy:
While it offers beautiful views from the pool, please note that the far edges can be dangerous. In addition to our standard pool usage rules, we ask you to comply with the following safety recommendations:
• Please do not stand or walk around the pool’s infinity edge.
• Do not use inflatable materials in the pool (eg swimming mattresses, rings, etc.).
• Children should always be accompanied and supervised when in or around the pool.
• Diving is prohibited.
• It is forbidden to swim at night.
SWIMMING POOL WATER/COLOR EFFECT
Chlorine is a natural bleaching agent. The more the pool is used and the warmer the weather, the more chemicals are needed to keep swimming pool water safe to use. This can react with certain fabrics and dyes used on them, causing fabrics to lighten or discolour. Many swimwear products carry warnings to this effect, and Rental Villas Fethiye accepts no liability for any damage to clients’ property while complying with our contractual obligations to ensure the safe use of your swimming pool.
These types of reactions are natural and do not mean that the chemical balance of the water is wrong. After using the pool, please make sure to rinse your hair thoroughly in freshwater. Shampoos are available in most supermarkets around the villas and can solve this problem.
GLASS WINDOWS AND DOORS
Please pay close attention to windows, especially full-height glass patio doors. Glass may not be toughened and sometimes accidents happen more easily in a strange environment than at home.
Please, for your own safety, always pay attention to local safety precautions when visiting beaches and follow instructions from local lifeguards, warning notices or instructions from flag systems. If you have any concerns, consult a competent authority or your Rental Villas Fethiye Villa Representative.
LINEN AND WASHING MACHINES
Bed linen is provided. If any person staying in the villa is allergic to washing materials, they must bring their own laundry.
In cases where gas water heaters are used in villas, they are inspected by local qualified engineers and a certificate of conformity is issued. A carbon monoxide detector will be provided for added peace of mind.
It is important to protect your eyes from sun damage in holiday destinations. We recommend that you consult an ’eye specialist’ for advice on how to minimize your risk before travelling.
If you or any of your occupants have a medical problem, you should contact your travel insurance company at the time of booking to report any pre-existing conditions. So you can be sure that you are secure against all possibilities.
Crimes against people and property are a fact of life and you have the same responsibility for your personal safety as at home. All clients must be extra vigilant and ensure that great care is taken to secure the property and their possessions. Make sure to check, close and lock all windows, shutters and doors of the villa at night. Set the security devices when you are away from the villa or in bed, day or night, depending on the type of system installed. Also, take care to lock your villa while relaxing around the swimming pool or perhaps taking an afternoon nap. If you do not use the safe provided in some villas, you can void any insurance claim you may have.
In case of the theft report it to the local police and inform your Villa Plus Villa Representative. Make sure you get a police report covering the incident or loss to claim your vacation insurance. Please note that filing a police report can take quite some time and at some resorts, you will need the assistance of a paid professional translator. Please note that we do not offer compensation for theft activities or take any responsibility for such matters.
Children naturally wonder that there is so much space to explore. Make sure your children are never left unattended and be especially mindful of balconies, swimming pools, sliding doors and other potentially dangerous areas such as stairs. Child gates are available free of charge and it is possible to fit them into individual villas. Please ask our reservation team if a child gate can be installed in the villa you have selected at the time of booking. Parents are always responsible for their children’s behaviour.
